The air quality and ozone connection | Alliances at work Helpful websites and phone numbers Return to Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine EPA and local officials use the Air Quality Index (AQI) to give the public timely and easy-to-understand information on local air quality and whether air pollution levels pose a health concern. The AQI is a color-coded numerical scale that provides information on local air quality and what you need to know to limit your exposure to air pollution. When the AQI is forecast to hit above 100 for ozone (code orange, red or purple), consider adjusting daily activities so you breathe easier.
