Bow hunting in the

Bow deer registration stations are now set in the Department of Natural Resources’ 11-county South Central Region.
There are three archery hunting seasons in the Region. Hunters are advised to check either the 2002 Wisconsin General Hunting Regulations or the 2002 Wisconsin regulations Related to Chronic Wasting Disease pamphlets for more detailed information.
The general statewide bow season runs from Sept. 14 through Nov. 21 and Dec. 2 through Jan. 3.
The archery season runs from Sept. 14 through Jan. 31 in the CWD Intensive Harvest Zone and from Sept. 14 through Jan. 3 in the CWD Management Zone.
Hunters in the CWD Intensive Harvest Zone and the surrounding CWD Management Zone must first shoot an antlerless deer before they can harvest a buck in either zone during both the archery and gun seasons.
The CWD Intensive Harvest Zone encompasses western Dane-eastern Iowa Counties and a small portion of southern Sauk County while the CWD Management Zone covers all or part of 15 deer management units around the Intensive Harvest Zone.
The three DNR operated deer collection stations in the CWD Intensive Harvest Zone will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday from Sept. 14 to Jan. 31. They are at Norslein’s Wood Works, Black Earth, Heck’s Farm Market, Arena, and Eagle Mart Stop-N-Go, Barneveld. These stations will only register and collect heads for CWD sampling from deer shot in the Intensive Harvest Zone.
